Director’s Note:
What happens when desire takes control of our carnal desires?
Leon Katz's The Three Cuckolds is an explosive collision of lust, jealousy, fantasy, and folly. Drawing inspiration from the traditions of commedia dell'arte, farce, and classical comedy, with a touch of absurdism, this cast and production team send this off as a love letter to comedy.
As an artist, it's been an honor revisiting this Hip Pocket staple with fresh, new faces to our stage. From the first production ever produced by Hip Pocket to its first show of the Fiftieth season, it's my hope to add a little bit of Cranshaw flair and flavor.
The Three Cuckolds are driven by appetite—whether for love, status, attention, or pleasure—and their relentless pursuit of these desires creates the deliciously tangled web that unfolds before us. We laugh because their absurdity feels familiar. We recognize ourselves in their insecurities, their longing, and their remarkable capacity for self-deception.
In staging this production, our goal has been to embrace the play's theatricality and joy. Rather than grounding the action in realism, we invite audiences into a heightened world where physical comedy, bold characterizations, and playful storytelling take center stage -- and you may find some of them in your laps. Get your dollar bills ready.
As always, thank you for joining us under the Texas sky! Molemo!

The 50th anniversary season is dedicated to all of us, past and present. The immense number of people who have contributed their energy, belief, and love to keeping Hip Pocket thriving these 50 years is astounding! We would not be here today and be what we are without every single one of you!
